I was skeptical about Tampa when I returned to Florida in 1991. Having lived for over a decade in Chicago and then Washington, DC, Tampa seemed like a small town at best. Ultimately, though, I was won over by the whole Tampa Bay area, which now seems to me vital and interesting, populated by people, businesses, organizations that really care about making life better here as much as possible.
I was just about to launch a different website showcasing businesses that work for their clients' and customers' best interests [and] connect and commit to the Tampa Bay Region. Then the pandemic hit.
I'm building instead a site that will be a place, a community, a clearinghouse, a . . . well, whatever we need to make it become. Rather than figure it all out myself, I want it to evolve based on what I hear, see, receive, or otherwise have suggested to me. My first thought is that the logo and site is for businesses and organizations that intend to reopen, rebuild, or re-imagine. They should be able to do so in a way that is best for their customers, clients, and employees and not what they are "ordered" to do.
I'll be putting out a call for images, videos, stories, resources—whatever will help us be reborn. We can build a map to where we need to be: I need help doing so and am open to any suggestions.
And maybe we have a chance to be better than we were.
[The site will have links to free files and other resources. For example, I already have made therebirth TAMPA BAYlogo available for download—feel free to use it in print or on the Web to represent rebirth or supporting the rebirth of Tampa Bay. If possible, please provide a link back to this site.]
